I know about MDAC, but I was hoping for a local one where I can go out learn and meet other people.

Hi I'm new to the hobby and looking for some local enthusiasts in the RTP area as well. I actually emailed the MDAC a few days ago and am waiting for a response from those folks.

Maybe we could carpool to a Matthews MDAC meeting on occasion?

I'm interested primarily in Civil War relic hunting. I've never done it but am a civil war history buff. After watching We Dig Dixie's awesome NC bullet finding videos, I have the fever! :-)

Good luck,

James

I am just south of Raleigh in Angier. I am looking for a hunting partner as well. I am a civil war buff. I am from MS originally and have been living here for abut 6 years now. What got me sparked was when I found out that my 3rd great grandfather and his 4 brothers were in the C.S.A. and were in this area in March and April 1865 at the close of the war before going back to MS. Unfortunately, I do not have anywhere to look besides on public land because I am just getting started as well. If you are interested in getting together though let me know.

They meet the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:30PM at the Ridge Rd Baptist Church in Raleigh.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to metal detecting. My wife is getting me a detector for Father's Day so I'm trying to figure out what to do next :) I'm in Holly Springs, NC and found this post. Is there an active club in my area or any meetups nearby? I'm not sure of what the rules are and I don't want to break any laws. I figured metal detecting would be a fun thing to do with my 14 year old.

Thanks,
Jon
